Do we need a permit and signage? If so, who is doing it?

As soon as we have to encroach on public roads (streets, sidewalks, alleys, etc.) with our equipment (ladders, pods, etc.), we have no choice but to obtain an occupancy permit from the municipal authorities.

In order to obtain this permit, we are also required to submit a signage plan that will allow us to work safely and legally on the site.

There are, of course, additional fees for permits and signage, and it is difficult to estimate the costs accurately. Street type, space, occupancy time and signage requirements are all factors that dictate costs.

For logistical and planning reasons, Elite Calfeutrage handles the formalities for you. These additional costs, including a small administrative burden, are never included in the bid.

Should the work be done by employees with CCQ competency cards?

Several renovation projects are subject to the various collective agreements in place in the construction industry. In such cases, Elite Caulking must report the hours worked for each employee assigned to various subject projects.

It is the type of building and certain specific conditions that determine whether or not your project is subject to CCQrates.

Single-family principal residences (residential areas) are among the only classes of buildings that are not subject to them. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in the closure of a construction site and the imposition of hefty fines.

Who can use the lifting equipment?

Some lifting equipment requires recognized accreditation in order to operate them safely. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in the closure of a construction site and the imposition of heavy fines.

Do I have to redo all the caulking joints at the same time.

Usually, all the caulking of a building was originally done at the same time except when certain windows or doors were changed in the meantime.
It’s much the same when repairing the caulking.
In most projects (over 90%), the caulking is always completely redone. In the case of large projects, and for budgetary reasons, the work can be done in 2 or 3 steps in order to space out the significant expenses.
Of course, the priority will be for the most deteriorated facades. For logistical and follow-up reasons, it will be more considered to proceed with a complete repair by façade. In other situations, a different strategy may be required to rationalize the cost of renting lifting equipment.
