What are the steps or processes of caulking repair?
The first and most important step is to withdraw the maximum (90% to 100%) of the old sealing around the openings and siding junctions.
Often being the longest step, it will sometimes be impossible to remove some sealant residue embedded in the pores of brick, stone or acrylic.
These few residues will not affect the adhesion of the new sealant and will be masked by the new seal which will inevitably be wider than the old one.
Dust should then be removed with brushes and/or compressed air. The different surfaces will then be cleaned with solvents making the materials clean and ready to receive the new sealant.
Some substrates require the application of a primer that will maximize the adhesion factor. In order to avoid filling the overly wide gaps around doors and windows with sealing, in some situations alveoli rods (seal bottom) will need to be inserted to promote application according to industry standards and manufacturers’ recommendations.
The new sealant will then be applied using professional, manual or pneumatic caulking rifles, which allow better flow control to obtain an aesthetic and uniform seal.
Finally, the joints are smoothed with strips to push the new sealant against the walls and standardize the finish.

How long will the work take?
This can vary enormously from company to company and project to project, depending on the nature of the work, the number of employees available and the fair planning of the tasks.
The size of the singing comes about, the number of windows, the condition of the old sealants, the need to scaffold or not, etc.
As far as Elite Calfeutrage is concerned, we always plan to assign as many employees as possible to your project in order to reduce the duration of the work to the shortest. We take into account all the following factors:
- time the use of lifting equipment,
- The length of municipal permits that are charged to the day,
- the inconvenience and inconvenience of a construction site in your home.
